Renksiz, beyaz, dikd\u00f6rtgen kristallerdir. \u00c7ok hafif \u00f6zel bir kokusu vard\u0131r. Ek\u015fi tatta ve asit reaksiyondad\u0131r. Optik\u00e7e aktiftir. Polarize \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131 sa\u011fa \u00e7evirir. Asetonda \u00e7ok zor \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcr. Eter, petrol eteri, benzen, kloroform ve ya\u011flarda \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcnmez.C vitamini kimyasal olarak askorbik asidin \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131 sola d\u00f6nd\u00fcren enantiyomeridir. Ticari C vitamini genelde askorbik asit kristallerinden veya askorbik asidin kalsiyum veya sodyum tuzlar\u0131ndan olu\u015fmaktad\u0131r.C vitamini (askorbik asid) omurilik, akci\u011fer ve g\u00f6z gibi pek \u00e7ok hayvansal dokunun sulu b\u00f6l\u00fcmlerinde olduk\u00e7a y\u00fcksek yo\u011funlukta (milimolar ve \u00fcst\u00fc) bulunur.<\/p><p>C vitamininin kesin \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm\u00fc hem onun biyokimyasal hem de farmakokinetik \u00f6zellikleri i\u00e7in zorunludur. Biyolojik sistemlerde askorbik asidin rol\u00fc, C vitamininin fonksiyon ve gerekleri iki fakt\u00f6rle birlikte ele al\u0131nmal\u0131d\u0131r: Birincisi, C vitamininin hem antioksidan hem de bir enzim kofakt\u00f6r\u00fc olarak hareket etme yetene\u011fi dahil biyokimyasal \u00f6zellikleridir. \u0130kincisi, ba\u011f\u0131rsakta emilmeyi, serum konsantrasyonunu, h\u00fccresel da\u011f\u0131l\u0131m\u0131, kullan\u0131m ve d\u0131\u015far\u0131 at\u0131l\u0131m\u0131n\u0131 i\u00e7eren farmakokineti\u011fidir.<\/p><p>Askorbik asit b\u00fct\u00fcn canl\u0131 dokularda bulunur. Do\u011fada \u00e7ok yayg\u0131n \u015fekilde bulunan bu vitaminin en zengin kaynaklar\u0131n\u0131 taze meyve ve sebzeler olu\u015fturur. Meyveler aras\u0131nda en \u00e7ok askorbik asit i\u00e7erenler; limon, portakal, greyfurt, kivi, ananas, \u00e7ilek ve frenk \u00fcz\u00fcm\u00fcd\u00fcr. Elma, armut ve erik ise bunlara g\u00f6re daha az miktarda askorbik asit i\u00e7erir.
